Valve Confirms Steam Deck OLED Is Out of Stock Due to “Memory and Storage Shortages”

The situation around the rising memory cost and shortage has affected the launch of the next-gen consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Meanwhile, Nintendo, which last year launched the Switch 2, is reportedly mulling over a price hike this year. Earlier this week, reports began floating that the Steam Deck OLED had quietly gone out of stock on Valve’s official storefront in the US.

Valve blames memory and storage shortages for the Steam Deck OLED going out of stock

In fact, all listed models, including the 256GB LCD, 512GB OLED, and 1TB OLED, were unavailable in multiple regions. While some European and UK buyers can still place orders, availability has become inconsistent.

On Valve’s store, the company has now directly acknowledged the situation (via Videocardz). A notice on the page states: “Steam Deck OLED may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages. Steam Deck LCD 256GB is no longer in production, and once sold out, will no longer be available.”

At a time when AI infrastructure is consuming massive amounts of memory and NAND storage, it appears consumer hardware is starting to feel the pressure. Over recent months, RAM, SSDs, and even GPUs have seen price fluctuations tied to the same supply constraints. The Steam Deck now seems to be another casualty.

That being said, this doesn’t necessarily mean the stock is gone for good. Valve could roll out units in small batches if supply improves. But if the shortage continues, resale prices will likely spike fast as opportunistic sellers step in.

So what do you think, can Valve stabilise supply before scalpers take over pricing, or are buyers heading into another hardware scramble?
