Microsoft has revealed another title heading to Xbox Game Pass this month, expanding its April 2026 lineup with a classic strategy revival.

According to True Achievements, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era will arrive on April 30 for PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. The game launches in Game Preview, meaning players will be able to jump in early while development continues.

A return to classic turn-based strategy

Olden Era serves as a prequel to the long-running Heroes of Might and Magic series, bringing back the franchise’s signature turn-based strategy gameplay. Players begin with a single town, choose a faction, and explore a procedurally generated world while gathering resources and expanding their territory.

The core loop focuses on building and upgrading armies over time, staying faithful to the original formula that made the series popular while introducing modern systems and visual updates.

Tactical combat and early reception

Combat remains turn-based, with a strong emphasis on positioning, planning, and unit management. Players can face AI opponents or challenge others depending on the selected mode, and developers have already confirmed multiple gameplay modes.

A previously released demo has generated solid interest, earning Mostly Positive feedback from more than 5,000 user reviews on PC, suggesting a strong early reception among fans of the genre.

Game Pass updates and ongoing deals

As with every new addition, several titles are also expected to leave the Game Pass catalog soon, giving players limited time to try them before they are removed.

Meanwhile, the Xbox Spring Sale is already underway, offering discounts across a wide range of games, expansions, and bundles for those looking to expand their library.

With the Olden Era arriving at the end of April, the Game Pass lineup continues to deliver fresh content, especially for strategy fans looking for a modern take on a classic formula.
